Rebate Program.

The City of Hobart reimburses 50% of your project cost, from a minimum of $500 up to a maximum of $10,000. It is paid as a reimbursement after the project is complete and paid in full. Funding is limited and awarded first-come, first-served until it runs out.

Approved project types are roofs, siding, gutters, soffit, and windows. Other energy-efficient exterior projects may qualify with the consent of the Hobart Building Commissioner. Rebates are calculated on the total project cost, including labor.

The home must be an owner-occupied single-family residence within Hobart city limits, current on all property taxes, and covered by homeowners insurance. New construction, rentals, and properties cited as unsafe or in code violation are not eligible. One rebate is allowed per household per year, and you can't have received one in the previous two years.

Yes. You must submit your application and receive pre-approval from the City of Hobart before any work begins. Applying first also confirms that program funding is still available for your project.

It's a reimbursement. You pay for the completed project, pass a final City inspection, and the City then issues a rebate check made out to the property owner. A 5-year lien is placed on the property as part of the program.

The rebate cannot be used with insurance proceeds. It can be combined with state and utility rebates and federal tax credits, as long as your total rebates and credits don't exceed the project cost. Work must be done by a contractor licensed with the City of Hobart — self-installations don't qualify.
